My art practice is guided by emotion- nostalgia, sadness, rage, love, and empathy. I use illustration, drawing, and printmaking to process the things that make my heart swell and twinge, that make me anxious, that make me joyful, fascinated, and devastated.
I endeavour to understand my identity, my relationships, and the future we face as citizens of an endangered society. The slow, often collaborative process of printmaking allows for reflection and continuous iteration. It becomes an act of care.
As our society faces a surge in artificial intelligence, I turn to creating with my hands slowly and deliberately. I look to traditions of folk art and decorative arts to create ornament, tell stories, make an impact, and communicate essential messages. I utilise my knowledge of art, design, and art history to think critically and develop imagery, often through the lens of the natural world, that is deeply imbued with symbolism and care.
