For a book design project in university, I selected The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black to redesign. It was one of my favourite series as a teenager, but I felt that the existing designs did not measure up with the author’s quality of writing and the tone of the books. 

I reread the books to create detailed illustrations that referenced key moments in the books. I aimed to establish a fantastical, whimsical, and mysterious tone with the book covers to give readers a sense of what to expect when picking up the book.

I completed multiple type tests to carefully select the title and body typefaces.
